Are you judgemental?

Are you judgemental? If you walk on two legs and breathe then the answer is probably yes. We would all like to think we are not but often our basic instinct is to form quick opinions prior to obtaining all the details. I like to think that I give the benefit of the doubt when forming opinions and sometimes I do but all to often I fail. This is one of the aspects of human nature that is not flattering. I was reminded of this while streaming  a movie this weekend. The star of the movie was Bill Murray. He is always funny so I thought it would be fun entertainment. That was my first incorrect assumption. It was a dark comedy full of emotion. Yes he was funny and entertaining but heart wrenching also. My first opinion of the character he was portraying was that he was a jerk, rude and a loser. He was angry with everyone. Again I was wrong. Yes he drank a lot, gambled and was rude to everyone but he had heart. A loss had brought him to where he was and a little boy took the time to get to know him and reveal his history. What did he find out? This character was anything but a loser and life had dealt him some hard knocks that had brought him to this place in his life. The movie was ST Vincent and I would recommend  watching it. Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy and Jaeden Lieberher all perfect for the roles they played so well. You will laugh, shake your head and cry. It is entertainment but it is also a reminder to us all that life does things to people. What you see on the surface is not always what is inside the person and in my humble opinion, it is what is inside that counts.
