The Land of Legends

I’m in Glastonbury, England. Not physically, in my head, the current setting in the book I am writing. I can almost feel the cool wind and the smell of the English countryside.  A wonderful historical place, a place of legends. What is true and what isn’t? That is the mystery so many have tried to solve. Archaeologists, scholars, so many have sought the evidence or lack thereof, to prove or disprove.  Some of these the legends have been around since the 1st century. Written about by early scholars only to be contradicted centuries later by other scholars. Who decides what should be termed as a legend and what is true? Some will need hard evidence, indisputable. Others will take what they can from what is found and form their own opinion.

Which are you?

Tertullian, Eusebius, Gildas, Bede, are just some of the early scholars that have been examined by the experts. Interestingly, the acceptance of their writings changes over the centuries. Eusebius quoted Hegesippus, a 2nd century Christian chronicler in his works. Eusebius was a 3rd century scholar. Did these scholars change the facts in their writing or did the facts change to suit the political, social preferences of the time? Wouldn’t we all like to know? Until then we must weave our own conclusions.

If you love history and are curious about the early Christian church, give my books a read. The Descendants Series. Book one, The Acceptance. Book two, The Promise. Book three is almost complete, The Revelation.

Come, escape from the world and join Gillian and her companion in their quest.

The story takes Gillian and her companions on a search for truth. Will she find what she seeks? Is the breadcrumb trail she is following leading her in circles? Will she find any evidence to prove these legends? Were there really documents hidden long ago waiting for her to find and reveal them?

Everyone she meets is instrumental in her quest. No coincidences, all planned centuries ago to lead her where she needs to be. She struggles to put logic aside and follow what she believes to be true. Will she succeed or will the darkness win once again?
